2011/2012 First 'W' 8-1 for NFCApril 29th 2011
While Prince William and Princess Kate were celebrating their wedding. Edmonton NFC had their hand's full against new and up coming community of Bhutanese Nepali here in Edmonton. The game started off with a quick goal within 5 minutes for NFC. There was good ball movement, also it was easy for the team to penetrate the Bhutanese defence. There was a flurry of goals within the 30 minutes, after realizing the other teams weaknesses. There were some great moments, where crosses were being delivered and also headed well. Despite the result, it was a great time for two communities to come together and have a good time. In a competitive standpoint, this win gives NFC great confidence heading into this season of soccer. Also gives us match experience for a lot of young players. Great game guys. Jai Nepal. |
IPSCE 2010The annual IPSCE was held on August 15, 2010 in Edmonton, Alberta. Organized by the Nepalese Canadian Society of Edmonton [NeCase]. Western Nepalese community from Saskatoon, Calgary and Vancouver all came together to participate in this event. Calgary defeated Edmonton in the Final game 5-1.Edmonton beat Saskatoon in the Final Game of the Volleyball tournament. An one day event comprised of Soccer, Volleyball and Dandi-Biyo with four teams playing was asking a lot from individuals but everyone stuck in to the final whistle. "For NFC, although we lost against Calgary during the tournament. The team especially the youth, came closer and started taking soccer seriously. From this loss we gained a lot more experience, and also learned what we need to work on to be better. The game we played against Vancouver was when we realized we could actually hold our own against other teams. We saw how good the Vancouver team was but we were still able to come away with a victory. It was a great confidence booster for the team. The next IPSCE 2011 is being held in Calgary, and we are all looking forward to the upcoming tourney." -Galab Acharya |
